OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY STAFF A

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

A successful candidate will demonstrate clinical skills and knowledge in the assessment and treatment of pediatric patients across the continuum of acute care/ outpatient settings. Experience treating medically complex children is required. Adult acute care coverage will be required intermittently depending on department operational need.

 

  • The Occupational Therapist provides direct patient care including evaluation and treatment as outlined by the guidelines of NYS Occupational Therapy Practice Act and Hospital policy.
  • Provides daily clinical supervision to OTA's, Rehabilitation Aides/Senior Nursing Attendants and students.
  • Embraces the team concept of the department and the customer service approach to patient care.
  • Understands work schedule includes rotations, weekends, and holiday coverage.

 

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an Accredited Occupational Therapy Program.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy is required, Master's Degre is preferred.
  • Valid New York State Occupational Therapy License and Registration.
  • Two years’ experience with pediatric patients (0-21 years) preferred.
  • Experience in Pediatric and Adult Acute Inpatient Bedside Services, including General Surgical, Vascular Surgery, Pediatrics, CCU / ICUs, Orthopedics, Neuro / Neurosurgery, Transplant, Cardio Thoracic Surgery, Oncology, and Outpatient Services. With an emphasis on client centered Pediatric Rehabilitation
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Weekend Work Required.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible Days and Hours, holiday coverage necessary
