Montefiore Medical Center’s Division of Anatomic Pathology is responsible for the testing of surgical, biopsy and cytological specimens for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. The Division processes over 60,00 0 surgical and biopsy specimen and 70,000 cytologic preparations receiving material from the Montefiore Medical group, faculty practices and voluntary physician offices.


This position carries out and oversees all administrative functions in the Division of Anatomic Pathology (AP), all campuses and services. The position will provide administrative support for AP directors, service chiefs and laboratory management.   The individual will interact and work cooperatively with Pathology's Senior Administrator in meeting the goals and expectations of the Department of Pathology and the Montefiore Health System.



  • Oversee, coordinate, and provide administrative support for Anatomic Pathology (AP) activities in all component services and between employee groups - professional, management, clerical.  Supervise the clerical staff at Moses Division Surgical Pathology
  • Plan and monitor budgets and resource allocations in coordination with AP service directors, managers, and departmental senior leadership. Monitor expenditures and resource allocations including material purchases and contracts. Perform cost-benefit analyses and utilize lean process principles. Perform financial maintenance (e.g., charge code updates). Make changes in the above when directed by administration. Determine cost per services provided including pricing for contracted services
  • Oversee AP regulatory compliance and quality assurance/improvement programs, including data collection, alignment of policies with actual practices and uniformity of practices at all campuses
  • Assist with human resource management activities:  recruiting of qualified personnel, performance issues, address union matters. Maintain personnel folders and ensure competency testing and evaluations are performed and reported timely.  Assist with development and revision of job descriptions
  • Liaison with clinical pathology sections, other clinical departments, including outreach clients, in coordination with AP managers, customer service staff and medical directors
  • Administrative liaison with non-clinical departments, including Information technology, Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Employee Health, and others.  Identify and follow through on issues and problems as they arise, in coordination with AP managers and Medical Directors




  • Bachelor's degree Hospital Administration, MBA, MPH, Medical Lab Sciences required, Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience required
  • Must have work experience in administrative support role preferably in an anatomic pathology setting
  • Personnel management, Project planning, Quantitative skills, and ability to apply to budget, finance, QA, Communication skills, Computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are required


This position is located in the Surgical Path Lab at the Moses campus. The hours are 9:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday through Friday
