Position Summary

The mission of the Office of Clinical Trials (OCT)is to support investigators at Einstein and Montefiore in the conduct of clinical research by providing resources, expertise, and best practices to facilitate efficient, compliant, and ethical study conduct. The OCT provides financial management of clinical trials of pharmaceuticals and medical devices for both industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated studies by building and negotiating budgets, crafting contracts, and engaging in business development. The Assistant Director will be essential in overseeing the financial, operational, and administrative clinical research services of the Office of Clinical Trials (OCT). The incumbent will drive and coordinate processes from contracts, budget development/negotiations, billing, and financial accountability to secure maximum revenue from study fees. He/she will put the necessary metrics in place to monitor and ensure progress in the and ongoing efforts to streamline research administration.


  • Bachelors Degree required
  • Professional Research Certification (SOCRA, ACRP) preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in clinical research, research billing and financial management and grant development.
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Experience in academic research administration and operations
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research processes and the clinical research life cycle required.
  • Ability to understand in-house developed systems and identify risks with, or gaps in, those systems
  • Working knowledge of good clinical practice and FDA regulations, Centers for Medicare, and Medicaid Services’ clinical trial policy
  • Working Knowledge of Epic and Clinical Trial Management System(s)
  • Working knowledge of hospital charge capture flow, and charge description master.
  • Working knowledge of medical billing and billing compliance ICD-10 and/or CPT Codes and research billing
  • Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as World, Excel, Access, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Ability to correctly decipher regulatory or procedural language
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills, and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to establish department goals and objectives that support the strategic plan.
  • Ability to effectively plan, delegate and/or supervise the work of others
