Associate Director of Surgery - Clinical & Business Affairs will administer and oversee the revenue operations and all other financial activities of the Department of Surgery.  
He/she will develop budgets, perform data analyses, develop business plans and supervise staff as well as provide technical assistance and support to all billing/coding managers, billing/coding supervisors, 
billing/coding clerks, verification clerks in Surgery and all faculty engaged in private practice regarding billing and collections, coding, third party enrollments, compliance and managed care guidelines.  


Responsibilities include: 
•    Overseeing the billing and collection business at all the surgical outpatient sites (Hutch, etc.) as well as the inpatient activity at three hospitals (Weiler, Moses, Wakefield) including all grant and clinical trial coordination/collection.  
•    The incumbent is charged with maximizing the department’s revenue for professional services, maintaining compliance with federal, state and third party regulations and identifying new areas of revenue generation with the generation of comprehensive business plans including managing physician credentialing. 
•    This role manages revenue for both the Department of Surgery and the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery.


The Department of Surgery and the Department of Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery is organized into programs and divisions, each headed by a physician director.  
While in some departments, private practice activities are centralized in one location, our practices are spread out among many locations.  Managing within such a matrix is very challenging and 
requires creativity in addition to well-developed interpersonal skills.


Education/Skills required:
•    Bachelor’s Degree required: Master’s Degree preferred
•    Minimum Three (3) years’  experience in an Academic Medical Center/Hospital environment 
•    Experience in EPIC billing and collection and reporting
•    Experience with large faculty practice operations & multiple sites
