Reporting to the Moses site Director of Engineering, The Chief Engineer for the Moses Division will be directly responsible fo the day to day operation of the sites Co-generation plant, heating ventilation and ari conditioning plant, as well as the entire power plant infrastructure. This position will be responsible for the management and supervison of approximately 50 FTE's including all power plant personnel. The Chief Engineer will ensure the safe and continuous operation of the Moses sites power plants. Included within the scope of this position will be the following:


Budgetary responsibility both OTPS and salary

Coordinate the purchasing of required commodities to operate the Moses sites electrical and steam power plants with the Medical Centers VP of Facilities

Maintain the monthly plant energy consumption report

Ensure the medical centers SPCC plan is continuously implemented

Development of capital expenditure plans commensurate with the Medical Centers overall strategic goals

Development and implementation of standards of operational procedures for plant operation

Development and implementation of a comprehensive training program in accordance with equipment needs, good operating practices, and regulatory requirements

Maintenance and operation of the sites mechanical engineering spaces including all HVAC equipment

Responsible for the Medical Centers domestic water, fire suppression and standpipe systems

Work closely and coordinate activities with the Moses site chief electrical engineer to maintain operation of the electrical infrastructure including emergency generators, ATS units, fire and smoke detection systems

Manage/Planning of Capitol Improvement Projects

Evaluate the performance of personnel assigne in completion of annual performance evaluations

Provide utility shutdown as necessary for facility renovation and construction projects

Coordinate with other department heads as necessary to meet operational requirements

Review and evaluate plans and specifications for facility infrastructure renovation and or improvement

Coordinate closely with facility project manager during construction and renovation projects as necessary

Prepare documentation required for the Joint Commission surveys and participate in Environment of Care committee as required

Manage compliance with all Regulatory Agengies

Responsible for upholding Montefiore's Policy and Procedures

Responsible fo rmodeling the Standards of Respect and Behavior and holding management and associates to those standards as well


An Engineering Degree from an accredited college is required
Minimum of 5 years of experience in hospital setting with increasing roles and responsibilities
Minimum of 5 years experience in power plant or steam plant required
