The Clinical Pharmacist-Informatics will be responsible for the clinical and medication use policy dimensions of the pharmacy information and technological systems and future technology that will be added to the department of pharmacy/institution. This person is responsible for the coordination of the systems with an intimate understanding of changing scientific and biomedical evidence, a dynamic medication distribution systems and maturing technology. The position is responsible for achieving in-depth knowledge of the software and to assist and maintain the medication related components within the CPOE system, smart pump technology, automated dispensing cabinets, carousel technology, safety surveillance software, DoseEdge software and other systems or future systems that will interface with the pharmacy department for operational efficiency. The incumbent in this position will report directly to the unified Director of Pharmacy. This individual will interact with all levels of staff within and outside of the department of pharmacy to determine best and safe medication use processes as related to software and hardware functioning. The incumbent will perform in-depth analyses of clinical and technical issues associated with the use of pharmacy related software.

The Clinical Pharmacist for informatics is also responsible for developing and documenting the internal procedures that will be used in many of the software products within the department of pharmacy. In addition, they will be responsible for analysis of data and performance improvement projects within the department as related to the use of technology. Graduation from an accredited School of Pharmacy (BS or Doctor of Pharmacy) plus current license and registartion to practice in New York State. Minimum of 3 years as a pharmacist in Hospital pharmacy with accepted standards of practice preferred. PharmD or MS degree and/or completion of Pharmacy Residency Program may be used as a substitute for some experience. Pharmacy Informatics experience required.
