Summary of Position:

Supports the day to day operating room: coordinating between surgeons,  sterile processing,  supplies and vendors to ensure cases are performed in an efficient manner without delays due to avoidable factors.

Under the general direction of the operating room leadership, the clinical specialist must manage availability of all instrumentation, supplies, equipment and implants. The clinical specialist must ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of the operating rooms by coordinating and verifying the instrumentation, equipment and/or supply needs of the rooms are met throughout the day based upon the operative schedule and surgeon preferences.   This person will also fulfill the role of facilitator in LEAN process improvement initiatives.

He/she must also respond in a timely manner to all unforeseen needs and emergencies.


Education, Training, Experience:

  • Knowledge of OR equipment, instrumentation and supplies required.
  • Knowledge of case cart management
  • Knowledge of best practices/OR work flow and patient flow and related metrics.
  • Thorough understanding  of Infection Control protocol/standards
  • Knowledge of sterile processing is a plus
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Flexible and self-motivated
  • Superior planning and organization skills
  • Customer centric behavior
  • Ability to multi-task projects
  • Work 6 months within an OR
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Masters degree preferred
  • BLS required
