Montefiore’s HealthySteps Program is seeking psychologists (PhD/PsyD) full-time career opportunities as a HealthySteps Specialist.

Work alongside an incredible staff of pediatricians, pediatric residents and psychologists, psychiatrists and social workers as part of Montefiore’s HealthySteps program ( 

 HealthySteps is a national program that emphasizes a close relationship between health care professionals and parents to address the physical, emotional, and intellectual growth and development of very young children. Montefiore’s HealthySteps program is nationally recognized and a leader in providing preventive services to young children across the Bronx and low-income communities in Westchester County, where infants and toddlers are vulnerable to the multiple risk factors associated with poverty.  


Candidate will be part of the Pediatric Behavioral Health Integration Program (BHIP) operating in the Montefiore system, to provide preventive services including evidence based and trauma informed interventions to parents and young children, aged birth to five years, overseeing social emotional/behavioral and developmental screening of young children, mental health screening of pregnant mothers and education of pediatricians and pediatric residents.


The successful candidate will have access to a wealth of educational opportunities as part of Montefiore, a major teaching hospital in the Bronx.


The ideal candidate:

  1. NY State Licensed Psychologist 
  2. Experience working with parents and families, including assessment of parent-child relationships and family systems, and providing treatment , as needed
  3. Experience assessing the growth and development of infants and young children
  4. Experience with evidence based interventions for school age and adolescent behavioral health
  5. Flexibility to work in various capacities on an interdisciplinary team         
  6. Ability to establish collaborative relationships with a wide range of colleagues
  7. Demonstrate enthusiasm about exploring new roles
  8. Ability to work independently and to think reflectively about work and professional role
  9. Experience working in a medical setting or with health professionals


Employment provides POTENTIAL eligibility for:

  • An academic appointment at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
  • Student loan repayment programs ranging from $25,000-$50,000 for 2 years of service at some practice sites.
