DIRECTOR CLINICAL EDUCATION

BRONX, NY, US


The Director of Clinical Learning (DCL) collaborates with CNO, CMO, Nursing Leaders, Patient Care Practice Managers and MLN Colleagues throughout the health system to identify clinical learning needs in alignment with organizational mission, vision, strategic plan, regulatory requirements, and evolution in healthcare trends.   Additional relationships include: nurse staffing agencies, our school of medicine and nursing schools.

Collaborate in Build and launch of system level academies as well as nurse/clinical professional & development programs and residencies as well as student placement and internship programs.  Will strategically oversee and provide leadership to Special Projects, initiatives, grants and programs such as continuing education (CE's), simulation, and engagement initiatives).

DCL Leads clinical learning team in the assessment, development and execution of system wide clinical learning strategies and efforts.   
Ensures attainment of MMC scorecard goals through building and facilitating individual and clinical learning team collaboration with quality, safety, and infection control department directors and staff. Leads performance improvement initiatives and programs in order to maintain and expand clinical learning services offered.

Leads key projects that align with Montefiore, HR and Learning Network strategic Initiatives
     *Ensures attainment of MMC scorecard goals through building and facilitating individual and clinical learning team collaboration  with quality, safety, and infection control department directors and staff.
     *Leads performance improvement initiatives and programs to maintain and expand clinical learning services offered.
     *Supports practice changes and quality/safety initiatives throughout the health system.
    *Incorporates continuous quality improvement in daily activities and program evaluations.

Promotes healthy work environment on a day-to-day basis.  

Required: 10 years of work experience; Previous experience in leadership/management. Previous experience in clinical education ( Minimum of 3 years).  Professional clinical degree, at the  Masters level in Education  or post masters certification in education and NYS license, or eligibility for NYS license for example RN, NP, PA. Board certification. Or a PhD or Ed. D in a related field or NP.
Specialty certifications preferred.  Completion of NYS approved Infection Control and Prevention course within the past 4 years. 

Knowledge required:
      • Demonstrated knowledge of education theory and practices. Demonstrated knowledge of leadership theories. Demonstrated education and leadership skills.
     • Strong working knowledge of the health industry today and the effect of the many changes occurring simultaneously, such as quality and safety trends, regulatory requirements, risk management, patient centered care and reimbursement of services. 
      •  Demonstrated ability to lead others.
      • Experience working with cross-functional teams. 
     • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
     • Proficiency in finding clinical evidence and applying to learning initiatives.
     • Knowledge of research process and implementation. Ability to interpret research findings.
     • Demonstrated ability to manage resources.
     • Demonstrated Microsoft office skills and other computer based systems.
