The Director, Government Grants and Planning, will oversee government grant funding and provide planning, regulatory and policy support for and play an integral role in developing and monitoring strategic initiatives. The Director will oversee grant funding to support progress toward the organization’s goals.  The individual will work closely with internal and external clinical, administrative and executive leaders to advance Montefiore's goals and objectives.  In this role, the individual is responsible for coordinating the execution and implementation of various MHS strategic projects. These high-priority initiatives will range across multiple business and functional areas. Initiatives may involve significant business, policy and regulatory analysis, executive-level stakeholder management, and the development of time-sensitive solutions ranging from partnership agreements, to CON and other critical regulatory filings, to corporate structuring and beyond.  The individual will direct project work and oversee the work of the staff assigned to the projects.

This position directs the development and implementation of elements of the MHS's strategic and facility plans, in accordance with the goals and philosophy of the Montefiore, through the interactions with senior leadership, department chairpersons, administrators and consultants.  Guides MHS and its members and affiliates in decision making and project implementation utilizing a thorough understanding of government grant making, the health care industry, the regulatory environment, and the communities served.  Supports, within the context of the overall mission, vision and values of the health system, enhancements to clinical services, including new initiatives, program expansions, and volume improvement.




Master's Degree.   10 years' experience.

 Experience and knowledge of local, state and federal grant making and opportunities
•  Understanding of hospital operations
•  Experience as a policy analyst/researcher within a health care provider, health-oriented research/policy organization, a government agency, think-tank, foundation, or consulting firm.
• Understanding of New York State health policy issues and familiarity with the policymaking processes at the State level.
• Experience writing memos, reports and/or peer-reviewed journal manuscripts. 
• Experience with health care subject matter expertise, including academic medical centers, finance, payment reform, FQHCs and non-profit health care advocacy 
• Demonstrated knowledge regarding health care issues and trends, including but not limited to healthcare reform, Medicaid and other safety net programs, payment and delivery system transformation
• Strong business sense and strategic judgment
• Strong computer skills, including high-level knowledge of Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Comfort with data analysis.
