This position is responsible for the development, management, oversight and implementation of processes and procedures for high level disinfection and sterilization for the Medical Center, including hospital based and ambulatory care sites. Demonstrates advanced leadership, managerial, clinical and educative abilities and acts as liaison/consultant to all hospital departments.     This position has an indirect reporting relationship to the Director of Perioperative Services.                                                   


Bachelor's Degree required. Five year's work experience.

High-level disinfection/sterilization, general infection control practices

Valid NY State Nursing license preferred
Valid Certification as Sterile Processing Technician by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD)  and/or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) are preferred.

Expert knowledge of regulatory requirements, including but not limited to TJC, CMS COPs, AAMI standards, AORN standards, etc;  associated with high level disinfection and sterilization processes. 

Ability to operate equipment for high-level disinfection/sterilization.

Demonstrates leadership acumen and ability to identify and solve problems; uses initiative and good judgment to reach decisions.  
Must be extremely well-spoken, articulate (both written and oral) and be able to present policies, data, etc to MMC at the highest level of leadership in addition to providing coaching/support  directly with front line staff.
