The practice of a physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician.   These services may include but are not limited to patient histories and performing physical expaminations; ordering and /or performing diagnositc and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.  In an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital or affiliates.  Emergency is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or immediate threat to the life of the patient and the patient's priviate physician is not immediately available.


In additiion, Chief PAs responsibiilities include interviewing and training new PAs; general supervision of PAs, assisting in reviewing performance, assisting in the discipline of PAs, preparing work schedules and general supervisions of PAs; assisting with payroll; assistg in the devlopement and impelmentation of policies and procedures; liaison between departments staff; nurising units, referring physiians,  housestaff officers and secretarial staff; assists with administrative issues for all department PAs participate in leardership activities and training.  Also may include overseeing completion and submission of routine and special reports,oversee various reseach protocols; data preparation for the departmental studies and/or projects.


Position Qualifications:
A qualified candidate will be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Have a current NYS PA license.  Be certified through the NCCPA and meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.

ACLS, BLS and Peds certifiied.  FCCS certifiied.
