MEDICAL RECORDS ANALYST

BRONX, NY, US


RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Analyzes and processes medical records, dictated reports, encounter forms and legal certificates for completeness and accuracy.
 Review and abstract data for statistical and clinical database.
 Interacts with physicians, nurses and other personnel to obtain required compliance with hospital, JCAHO, State & Federal regulations.
 Performs research and questionable data on encounter forms, legal certificates and medical records.
 Reviews medical records for response to requests for information form attorneys, insurance companies, providers, government agencies, patients and other authorized persons.
 Performs other clerical duties such as data entry, encounter review, filing, telephones, etc. and other specialized assignment in various units within department.
 Reviews medical records for completeness and accuracy and obtains or clarifies patient information.
EDUCATION/TRAINING:
High school diploma or general equivalent. Certificates in medical terminology required. Certificate in HIM processing preferred. Demonstrated skills in typing and data entry. Demonstrated knowledge of computer applications in a windows environment. Ability to read and understand medical record data. Familiarity with physician notations and medical record content. Knowledge of Federal, State, and TJC privacy and security regulations governing confidentiality of patient health information. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
