The Nurse Practitioner will be expected to coordinate the various elements associated with the outpatient hepatobiliary and angioaccess activities to include evaluating patientspre and post-surgery, conducting history and physical examinations, and coordinating tests, discharge planning and follow up appointment and tracking of cancer data. The position interacts with all surgeons in the program, referring physicians and involved staff. Will seamlessly work with the Liver Center and Transplant Center in maintaining excellence, ease of patient care and physician & patient satisfaction. Will be involved in efforts to grow the program through outreach efforts.


Education, Training & Experience:


* New York State License for a Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as an RN

* Current New York State Nurse Practitioner specialty certification and registration

* B.S. Degree; Master's or Post Master's Certification in specialty as a nurse practitioner preferred; or a combination of education and experience that is acceptable to NY State Education Department and the Director of Nursing and/or Chairman of the Department, or Division Director.

* National certification in nurse practitioner specialty (ie: ANCC, AACP or NAPNAP) preferred

* Additional education as required by specialty/patient care location

* Effective English communication skills, both written and oral

* Ability to use data entry and retrieval system


At least 3 years experience in surgical and nursing environment

Experience with the management of the patients within the ambulatory, in-patient setting

Experience working closely with attending physicians

Preferrence for NPs with background in transplant or hepatology
