The Substance Abuse Treatment Program [SATP] at Montefiore has been providing methadone treatment for opioid dependence for over 35 years.  SATP Units offer cutting edge individual and group counseling to admitted patients. It also offers a “one stop shopping” model of care owing to its onsite primary care services and chronic illness care, as well as mental health, nutritional and vocational services. SATP has an opening for a Nurses Attendant.



  • Prepare Outpatient Opioid Treatment program clinic for operations assisting RN
  • Obtain and document vital signs including temperature, blood pressure, pulse,
    respiration, pain score, height and weight.  Report variations from baseline to RN and document notification
  • Obtain specimens (urine, stool, sputum) and document. Notify RN if not complete
  • Assist with facilitating communication, i.e., answering phones
  • Assist nurses to administers medical treatment as directed
  • Assist in performing diagnostic and therapeutic treatments
  • Provide assistance during emergency procedures as directed
  • Maintain emergency supplies and ensure supplies and medical equipment are readily available
  • Assists in preparing patients for physical examination including provision of comfort supplies (gown, tissues, H20)
  • Provide patient care in accordance with policies and procedures for side rails, physical restraints, periodic awareness and constant observation
  • Replace / restock supplies and transport supplies and equipment within assigned clinical unit
  • Maintain utility and service rooms in proper order as assigned
  • Performs equipment checks as assigned



  • High School Graduate or equivalent with vocational/technical training required
  • Graduate of State Certified Program or 1 year clinical experience as a nursing student/foreign graduate nurse
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) required
  • Effective English communication skills, both written and oral
