This position is accountable for directing the hospital-wide infection prevention and control program and related performance improvement activities at Montefiore Medical Center. This role will provide supervision and management of the infection prevention and control team to ensure effective coordination, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the program. This position will serve as principle consultant to the organization regarding all current and evolving infection prevention and control related evidenced based practices, guidelines, mandates and regulatory requirements. Develops evidenced based infection prevention policies, develops infection control training program and performs annual risk assessments. Assumes supervisory responsibilities for Infection Control personnel (interviewing, selection, training, performance evaluation and counseling) The Director will work collaboratively with all roles and departments to achieve the infection prevention and control program goals aligned with the organization’s mission, values, vision, and strategic objections




 Master’s degree in Nursing, Public Health, Epidemiology, Microbiology or related field required

The candidate must be licensed or eligible NYS Registered Nurse. 

Certification in Infection and Control (CIC) issued by the Certification Board of Infection and Epidemiology (CBIC) required

5-7 years Infection Prevention and Control required. Experience in Infection Prevention and Control leadership preferred.

5-7 years in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity, in the development of infection and control programs, analysis and reporting and related functions in a hospital or healthcare setting

The candidate must have a minimum of 10 years’ experience working in acute care.

Prior administrative experience in healthcare project management or quality management preferred. 

Demonstrated management of teams across a large medical center. 

Experience in qualitative/quantitative methods and health policy is required.

Experience in leading the full continuum, including the inpatient and outpatient environments, as well as medical and nursing education (including residents) is preferred.  The candidate will have experience working with performance improvement tools and methods, such as PDSA, LEAN techniques, and High Reliability Organizations. 
Excellent leadership, communication, presentation skills and the ability to influence required.
