Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will coordinate and oversee all activities of a clinical research study that focuses on fatty liver disease in children. Responsibilities include subject recruitment, retention and follow-up; attainment of consent; the coordination of tests and procedures between participants; data entry and maintenance; preparing IRB applications and regulatory documents; performing simple, research-related medical activities; and attending research team meetings.



  • Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred 
  • Applicant proficiencies must include Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of RedCap preferred, though not required.   Excellent communication and coordination skills also necessary.  Experience with Pediatric  patients is preferred. Native Spanish speakers or those fluent in Spanish are preferred.
  • As a requirement of the position, the individual will be trained to use one medical device (FibroScan) while being supervised by the PI or study physician. Usage of the device requires no previous medical knowledge or training, though a background in anatomy or healthcare is preferable. In addition, the applicant may be asked to perform standardized patient measurements such as a waist circumference.
  • Previous experience working as clinical trial coordinator or research assistant
  • Must pass all required CITI courses within 3 months of employment.
