SENIOR PSYCHOSOCIAL FACULTY II

BRONX, NY, US


This position requires a senior mental health professional, preferably a psychologist, with clinical and teaching experiences in primary care medicine. The professional needs to have demonstrated expertise in teaching psychosocial pediatrics and family medicine and be familiar with strategies to integrate this component to medical training.  This faculty member will develop and coordinate implementation of behavioral science pediatric curriculum for Residency Program in Pediatrics and assist in the development and implementation of the behavioral science/psychosocial  components of the Family Medicine residency, as well as the Advanced Primary Care Psychology Fellowship and Primary Care Family Psychology Externship programs. Duties include teaching, supervision of 15 family medicine residents, 12 pediatric residents, and some teaching and/or supervision of 2 psychology fellows, and 2 psychology externs ;  design of curriculum goals and formulation of relevant learning goals, teaching strategies and contents ; feedback and evaluation of curriculum, and integration of educational and clinical activities.

 

This faculty member will promote the quality social justice focused medical education of family medicine and pediatric residents and faculty  by integrating a socioculturally responsive, psychosocial and  behavioral health perspective in their clinical and  educational activities. Sensitivity and skills to work with undeserved populations is a must. Individuals who are Spanish-speaking and/or from an underrepresented in medicine background are highly encouraged to apply. 

 

PhD. NYS Licensed as a Psychologist or NYS Licensed PhD in Social Work. Health psychology, family counseling/therapy, family systems, specialized training in child/adolescent therapy, behavioral medicine.

Expertise on the clinical management of  emotional, family and mental health  problems, particularly as they are presented in primary care practices; Child, adolescent and adult developmental issues; Approaches to health promotion and behavioral health change; Sociocultural humility and responsive care/ sociocultural competence and social justice; Educational methods in medicine and psychology training; Professional issues faced by physicians; Mind-body techniques ; Cognitive-behavioral approaches; Family systems theory; Familiarity with medical practices and  models of behavioral health /primary  care integration as they pertain to care of children, adolescents, and adults across the life span.
