Staff RN- PEDS - DIVISION OF GASTROENTEROLOGY

 

Job Summary:

The Staff RN is an integral part of the Hepatology and Liver Transplant Team. The responsibilities include communication with patients and families in outpatient and inpatient setting, education of families, clinical procedures in the outpatient setting such as central line care and nasogastric tube insertion, review of medical records, participation in Quality Improvement initiatives and research studies of hepatology and liver transplant program.

The Staff RN participates in performance improvement/research activities; maintains professional practice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills.  The Staff RN demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served.  

 

Job Requirements:

  • New York State License for Registered Professional Nurse and current registration or valid permit to practice in New York State as a RN.  
  • BSN Degree preferred
  • BLS, Infection Control Training, Certificate in specialty preferred. 
  • At least 3 years’ experience in pediatric nursing required.
  • Ability to do basic data entry and retrieval systems. 
  • Experience in Pediatric Intensive Care nursing with children with solid organ transplantation highly preferred 
  • Experience with the management of pediatric patients pre- and post-liver transplantation in the ambulatory setting or inpatient setting preferred.
