SUPERVISOR MMTP COUNSELING

BRONX, NY, US


This position oversees the clinical operations of a team of substance abuse counselors and is responsible for all counseling interventions and staff within an Opioid Treatment Program.  The supervisor provides clinical and administrative supervision to ensure that clinical and regulatory standards are met, leads the team's interdisciplinary team meeting, and facilitates integration of clinical services within the overall operations of the program.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Requires ability to manage a variety of tasks simultaneously, to be organized in responding to and documenting responses, and to maintain supportive relationships with direct reports while coordinating responses of a multidisciplinary team
  • Manage the care of a large number of patients
  • Supervisor of counseling staff regarding their counseling work with patients, review and supervision of counselors' administrative responsibilities
  • Complete scheduled evaluations of all supervised staff as well as initiate disciplinary process for counselors when indicated
  • Monitor staff compliance with hospital and program policies and procedures
  • Initiate staff compliance with hospital and program policies and procedures
  • Coordinate BAHN case management services for all SATP patients who qualify. Utilize an Excel spreadsheet and of the BAHN portal to ensure that SATP patients are receiving case management services regularly
  • Acting Site Director in absence of director
  • Scheduling of staff on an ongoing basis and monitoring compliance with attendance policies
  • Provide conflict resolution for staff and patients
  • Organize and chair regularly scheduled IDC meetings and morning report to facilitate interdisciplinary communication
  • Oversee counselor follow-up on IDC recommendations
  • Participate in interviewing, hiring and orienting new staff
  • Maintain and supervise reporting systems to upper management
  • Facilitate temporary medication for patients referred from other programs
  • Increase and maintain counselor productivity
  • Facilitate implementation of CQI program with counseling staff including timely reporting of CQI indicators to CQI Committee
  • Execute program and hospital-wide initiatives to improve clinical care and regulatory compliance within program
  • Assess and manage risk and crises that may arise in the clinic

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree Social Work, Mental Health Counseling or related field is required
  • At least 3 years’ experience with Substance use assessment and treatment
  • Must be a Qualified Health Professional (QHP) and possess a license in Social Work (LMSW or LCSW), Mental Health Counseling (LMHC) or other clinical field.  CASAC preferred
  • Experience working with substance use treatment
  • Must have experience in training and supervising clinical staff including excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work in a collaborative team environment, and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
  • Knowledge of empirically supported treatment of substance use disorders
  • Clinical assessment and diagnosis of substance use and psychiatric disorders
  • Knowledge of OASAS and Joint Commission standards relating to the treatment of substance use
  • Utilize knowledge of adults across the lifespan to help provide and supervise others in the provision of  patient-centered interventions
  • Working experience with electronic medical records, management of spreadsheets including Excel
  • Must be organized and able to work well independently
