Neurosurgery Surgical Physician Assistant

We are currently seeking Physician Assistants to join our esteemed Neurology Department. As part of our astonishing team, you will be collaborating with physician and other healthcare providers;


Job Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct thorough histories and physical examinations using the NIH Stroke Scale (where indicated), initiate appropriate labs, radiology tests or other special tests required for evaluation of illness and scrutinize lab data on inpatients.  Complete admissions to establish a record of the patient's current health status and to develop a working diagnosis and treatment plan.
  • Evaluation and therapeutic procedures in response to life-threatening situations.
  • Provide information and answers to routine questions of patients regarding their disease, including preventive health maintenance, diet, weight loss, smoking cessation and topics related to medical specialty with recommendations.
  • Ensure continuity of care by serving as a liaison between patient and other members of the multi-disciplinary care team and/or with other specialty areas as necessary.
  • Perform research follow-up studies as directed by the supervision of the supervising PA.   Assists in data analysis. Participate in quality monitoring through the review of records and treatment plans on a periodic basis to assure quality care.
  • Facilitate appropriate length of stay, discharge planning and compliance with regulatory standards for inpatient management as set by Montefiore Medical Center bylaws.
  • Demonstrate a high standard of moral and ethical behavior by being compassion and professionalism and a commitment to excellent patient care.
  • Must be able to work with autonomy while under the direction of the supervising PA and supervising physician.
  • Extensive training will be provided on - stroke unit, epilepsy and general neurology.  This new environment is PA friendly and very supportive
