POSITION TITLE: Unified Technical Director - Breast Imaging

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Unified Technical Director - Breast Imaging

The Unified Technical Director of Breast Imaging responsible for the overall conduct and performance of Breast Imaging and must have a general operational knowledge of each site and location. Reporting to the Unified Department Administrator of Radiology, they are responsible for management of all services provided by Radiology Breast Imaging locations and function as the key liaison for maintaining and building the Breast Imaging referring network. They participate in central Radiology councils to provide decision making and expertise in Breast Imaging for the development of supplies, service contracts, and capital purchases. The Unified Technical Director of Breast Imaging directly manages the hiring, training, quality oversight, safety, and overall technical performance of staff within Breast Imaging and serves on department and organizational committees. Communicates with various members of the hospital staff at various levels within the organization to include but not limited to, clinical, research, administrative and community. They communicate with physicians, physicists, nurses, administrators, nurse practitioners, patient advocacy representatives and various members of other clinical and administrative departments.

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: 

  • Develop, implement, and oversee Breast Imaging tech training curriculum and on-boarding, including on-boarding/annual competency checklists, documented training program, vendor applications training, and new processes/procedures as necessary.
  • Collaborates closely with Division Lead, QA Management, Off Campus Imaging Leadership, the Safety Office and other operations managers to ensure consistent, quality care to all patients in Breast Imaging.
  • Partners with the Radiology Director of Patient Experience to develop and implement a vision for service excellence and patient-centered Radiology in Breast Imaging; including the measurement of performance and training of staff in patient experience.
  • In Partnership with the appointed physician overseeing Breast Imaging Quality and Safety and Radiology Medical Physicist, leads Breast Imaging quality and safety team to ensure the Breast Imaging department is in line with current Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), Joint Commission (JC) and American College of Radiology (ACR) standards.
  • Collaborates with department administration and physician leaders on business plan development to introduce and support new clinical programs or technologies, as well as monitoring reports of overall volume, equipment utilization, market share, and other KPIs for Breast Imaging throughout the system.
  • Leads and collaborates on specific projects as it relates to operations and process improvement.
  • In collaboration with local site managers, responsible for interviewing, hiring, and orienting all technical clinical staff for Breast Imaging. Evaluates technical performance and ensures on-going competency based and required training in partnership with the local site operational managers, QA manager and supervisors in the service line.
  • Standardizes operating procedures and effectively troubleshoots and resolves issues as they arise. Works with the Manager for Quality and Safety to maintain existing policies and identify new policies in Breast Imaging. Ensures management and staff have knowledge of existing policies and communicates inter and intradepartmental policy and procedure changes to management and staff.
  • Leads Breast Imaging across MMC regarding recommendations on additional equipment and technical protocols.
  • Collaborates with medical directors and managers for clinical oversight and policies across all outpatient campuses to ensure continuity of care with department standards.
  • Works closely with the Radiology Informatics Team to identifying present and future needs for innovative IT solutions in Breast Imaging.
  • Ensures all clinical licenses and ARRT documentation are maintained and that the Breast Imaging service meets the guidelines for MQSA, ACR, NYS DOH and Joint Commission. 
  • Develops a collaborative relationship with key stakeholders, including other departments (Oncology, Surgery, and MMG) and physicians to obtain feedback, support, and promote the department’s operational and strategic goals, and maintain the highest standards of quality care, patient safety, and customer service.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • Master's Degree Preferred
  • ARRT Registered 
  • Certification in Mammography
  • Current NYS DOH Certification
  • Experience with GE Mammo preferred. 
  • Experience with GE Hologic preferred.
