BIOSTATICIAN I

BROOKLYN, NY, US


The Fire Department of the City of New York in conjunction with Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine has an opening for data analyst to join our multidisciplinary team of physicians, biostatisticians and epidemiologists.  The primary goal of our work is to monitor the physical and mental health of over 15,000 firefighters and emergency medical service personnel post-exposure to the World Trade Center disaster.  The data analyst will provide analytic support to clinical care, member outreach, advocacy and peer-reviewed publications. Additional opportunities available to work on projects beyond data cleaning, manipulation and analysis. This is an intellectually stimulating position for a creative thinker and hard worker using large longitudinal data sets.

 

Responsibilities of position: 

  • Complete analytic tasks that include cleaning and manipulating data elements from several large Oracle databases using SAS, Excel, R, Tableau and related programs.
  • Collaborate with Oracle programmers in the creation/maintenance of a research data warehouse.
  • Construct programming, data, and statistical solutions to clinical or research questions.
  • Think critically to expand upon existing, or create new reports and quality assurance initiatives, as needed.
  • Assist in the dissemination of data and research findings through presentations, outreach, and various data visualization projects.
  • Assist in research studies and manuscript or grant preparation, as needed.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Excellent problem solving, analytical, writing and communication skills
  • Experience using SAS, Excel, and related programs.
  • Ability to work in a team and independently and across several projects
  • Master’s degree in epidemiology/biostatistics or related field or currently working toward a doctoral degree in related discipline requried.
  • One or more years of work experience in public health/research setting.
  • Experience with reporting or data visualization a plus.

 

Pay: Excellent salary based on individual qualifications and benefits including tuition reimbursement
