CLINICAL CODING INFORMATICS MANAGER

TARRYTOWN, NY, US


The primary role of the Manager Clinical Coding Informatics position is to provide data management and analytic support for HIM projects related to reimbursement optimization, documentation improvement, and revenue cycle.

The candidate must understand, document, and analyze data to respond to specific questions or generate analytic insights with a focus on improvements in coding quality, DRG assignment, and other coding KPIs. Additionally, the candidate will participate in various projects related to revenue enhancement, vendor evaluation, new programs and financial projects.   This candidate will provide reports, analysis and recommendations on/for various projects. The position requires knowledge and understanding of various coding classifications, reimbursement methodologies and documentation compliance standards, so as to provide expertise and inform analytics.

 

Certification is required, specific certifications include: RHIA, CPC and other relevant certifications

REQUIRED -  any of the following:

   • 3 - 5 years of experience in data analysis, data mining or analytics in healthcare related fields

   • 3 - 5 years of experience working with EMR/Clinical databases and clinical or enterprise data warehouses as data or software analyst

   • 3 - 5 years of experience working with and optimizing SQL queries and relational database schemas

 

OTHER REQUIRED SKILLS:

  

   • Strong analytic skills to analyze, categorize and translate business/user requirements to functional requirements

   • Excellent interpersonal and writing skills to communicate and document user interactions, requirements and create user documents

   • Excellent presentation skills for demo and user training

   • Demonstrated ability to take the initiative, establish/enhance business analysis procedures and improve operational efficiency

   • Experience in clinical informatics and clinical terminologies (ICD9-10, LOINC, CPT, etc)

 

Excellent interpersonal skills for communication with all levels of staff -- peers, clinical staff and physicians

Candidate must have the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and competing priorities and ensure target dates are met. 

Requires three (3) to five (5) years related experience in a complex healthcare environment.
