Job Description:

The Director, Compensation is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of competitive and compliant compensation practices that support the organization’s pay practice to reward employees appropriately.   The position reports to the Assistant Vice President, HR, Total Rewards.

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Direct Organizational compensation programs, policies, and processes, including job evaluation, market analysis, salary grade and range review, base salary adjustments, incentive plans, job title alignment and related budget development.
  • Experience with administering executive compensation and benefit plans, including benchmarking and knowledge of best practices
  • Experience with short-term and long-term incentive programs (in a non-equity environment), including management and administration
  • Develop and maintain compensation policies and practices, including base pay and differentials, as well as bonus and performance-based incentive standards.
  • Initiate and evaluate internal/external compensation surveys and research to ensure that compensation objectives are achieved and maintained.
  • Provide management and development of direct report Compensation team to ensure they are proficient in compensation policies and practices and are seen as a subject matter expert guiding and influencing HR and leaders appropriately.
  • Partner with teas across HR to ensure alignment of Compensation policies and practices as appropriate to help drive maximum associate engagement through aligned practices tied to the organization’s strategic objectives to attract, retain and reward team members.
  • Providing consultation regarding compensation policies and practice to Business Partners, leadership and other internal clients, as appropriate.
  • Oversee market research analysis to determine or support changes in current pay plans and programs, to remain competitive in their markets and ensure internal consistency.
  • Research and evaluate new or changing compensation practices and policies, and develop, recommend and implement new or revised compensation plans where needed.
  • Stay current on industry compensation practices and changing legal issues, assessing and communicating their potential impact on the business, as appropriate.

 

Qualification:

  • A Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related area and/or commensurate experience is required. Certification as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP), or similar, is a plus.
  • Solid mathematical and analytical skills, including cost analysis and budget forecasting is essential.
  • A strategic thinker with strong communication and program solving skills is critical.
  • Prior team leadership experience with a proven ability to lead, coach and motivate a high performing Compensation team is necessary.
  • Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Excel to run pivot tables, and other data analytics. Experience with enterprise-wide management information systems and cutting edge compensation management and benchmarking software is highly preferred.
