MANAGER CODING HEALTH INFO MANAGEMENT

TARRYTOWN, NY, US


SUMMARY OF POSITION:

 

The Manager IP Coding must provide direct oversight of the day to day operations of the unit.  This requires efficient throughput to avoid delays in billing and impact on medical center cash flow.   The Manager must be knowledgeable of coding classifications; reimbursement methodologies and with regulatory and accrediting reporting requirements in order to provide guidance, monitor  quality of work and address problems and issues.  The information coded and abstracted plays a major role in obtaining optimal reimbursement and in achieving regulatory and accreditation compliance.  The information also forms the basis for decision support, research, education and performance improvement.  The manager must therefore be knowledgeable in all aspects of this process in order to conduct education sessions and perform quality review audits.  This position also requires knowledge of denial and error management as received from internal and external review agencies and a clear understanding of billing and reporting requirements.  
The Manager of Inpatient Coding Operations must collaborate with physicians, nursing, case management and quality improvement staff.   

 

REQUIREMENTS AND EDUCATION:

 

High School Diploma/GED is required.

Bachelor's Degree is preferred.

Three years related experience is required.

Professional Certification is required for one of the following: RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC.
