This position serves in a support and advisory role to assist management in projecting, analyzing and managing the HR Total Compensation Group operating budget as well as the corporate employee benefit budgets for Montefiore Medical Center, Montefiore New Rochelle, Montefiore Mount Vernon and Schaffer Extended Care Center.  This position is primarily responsible for preparation and analysis of budget preparations, monitoring and presentation of Employee Benefit budgets for all Montefiore Health System entities enrolled in our benefit plans; preparation, monitoring,  presentations and analysis of the HR operating budget for the Total Rewards Group.  The position also has sole responsibility for the administration of the Tuition Reimbursement Program for Montefiore Medical Center. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Analysis and preparation of all benefit plan reconciliation reports and check request payments of same.
  • Maintaining statistical schedules, and keeps management informed of trend/outcomes.
  • Collecting data to respond to requests from senior management, auditors, governmental agencies, consultants, etc.    
  • Maintaining data base to ensure accuracy of payments and eligibility.
  • Preparing benefit metrics overview to capture statistics and status of current budget, trends and projections to support decisions. 
  • General administration of organizational tuition reimbursement, continuing education and scholarship programs
  • Ensures reimbursements are made on the agreed schedule. 
  • Responds to and facilitates external audit and informational benefit requests
  • Oversee plan activity reports. 
  • Preparation of audit requests and reviews 
  • Works independently to identify area of potential improvement to the organizational processes and functions.
  • Responsible for the administration of COBRA and two FSA Plans as back up to Sr. Benefit Specialists.  
  • Assist in special projects as required.



Undergraduate degree Accounting, Finance, Management or or equivalent experience plus 2 - 4 years HR Benefits experience.  Incumbent must be capable of dealing with the pressure of potential multiple priorities yet respond to associates and other processionals and with equanimity.  Must be analytical, flexible and discreet. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office products, (Excel, Word, Access, Project, Power point).

Good knowledge of and understanding of methodologies and tools used for budgeting and forecasting
