BUSINESS ANALYST - CLINICAL APPLICATIONS REPORTING

YONKERS, NY, US


Our Business Intelligence and Analytics organization is a large (30+) and growing department that provides complex information solutions to our corporate leadership.  The team focuses on the timely delivery of accurate, relevant and easily accessible information to all of its, hospitals, Montefiore corporate decision makes and external regulators or partners.  The technical team is comprised of data architects, DBAs, database engineers, business intelligence developers and business analysts who shepherd data from Montefiore’s multiple source systems to the Enterprise Data Warehouse and then to our customers through the business intelligence self-service platform.

 

We are seeking a Business Analyst for our elite Executive Analytics team to provide data to our executive management across the Montefiore Health System. This team provides data and reports that inform leadership decisions about patient care. This is a highly visible, influential department.

 

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Work closely with client clinicians, building relationships and serving as a liaison between the project team and the client.
  • Responsible for determining the internal measures for quality to ensure the solutions designed are based on customer defined quality improvement measures.
  • Analyze clinical processes, workflows and source systems. Identify stakeholders.
  • Meet with users to identify needs and requests for the system.
  • Analyze user’s needs to provide solutions to complex problems. With an in-depth understanding of the data, make suggestions which result in meaningful outcomes based on the findings and criteria of the users.
  • Create specifications for outcomes which meet clinical requirements.
  • Analyze requirements. Work closely with team members to identify constraints, determine level of effort, and the potential to meet user needs.
  • Identify the data sources.
  • Work with Clinical staff to define clinical measurements for regulator and clinical reporting. Understanding sources systems and the workflows that feed them.
  • Document business rules, specifications, and user requirements. Maintain specifications, revising as changes and enhancements are developed.
  • Oversee and participate in each phase of the project life cycle including user meetings, requirements gathering, testing, implementation, and go-live.
  • Assist QA Engineers in planning functional, regression, and acceptance testing to ensure finished product meet user’s requirements.
  • Educate Clinical users in Business Intelligence technology to gain maximum use of the reporting capabilities to improve patient care.
 

 

Requirements include:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Experience gathering business and technical requirements
  • Experience creating supporting project documentation, including Business Requirement Documents, Functional Specifications, Technical Requirement Documents, etc.
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with BI tools (Crystal Enterprise or Business Objects a plus)
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting data; maintaining and managing large datasets, including ability to ensure the integrity of data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment
  • Attention to detail, but with an ability to understand the big picture view and understand when projects or efforts have conflicting objectives
  • Ability to juggle several complex long-term projects, while also handling ad hoc requests
  • Experience working in environments using a development lifecycle methodology a plus
  • Experience with RDBMS databases (multi-dimensional a plus) and BI software a plus
  • Experience with project management a plus
  • Experience in healthcare specific reporting or other exposure to healthcare business constructs a plus
  • Knowledge of clinical systems within a Healthcare environment a plus
