Montefiore IT is hiring a Database Enginner on the Business Intelligence team !


The Database Engineer is responsible for data extraction, transformation, cleansing, and transport, to support clinical and business intelligence reporting, such as within a data warehouse program or to support a complex application that depends heavily on enterprise data.  The Database Engineer has keen insights into the client’s business and expected analytical requirements. The Database Engineer provides outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care. This position is within the Business Intelligence Operations team and would require database administration experience in EPIC suit of databases 




•    The Database Engineer will establish and maintain database management systems, standards, guidelines, and quality assurance for database deliverables including conceptual design, logical database, capacity planning, external data interface specification, data loading plan, data maintenance plan and security policy.
•    Leverage data extract, transform and load (ETL) technologies to accelerate development of data flows, to schedule them and to organize them for on-going maintenance by a team.  
•    Conduct analysis of source system data with client stakeholders and source system owners to determine a) capacity to meet reporting needs and b) specific transformation rules that need to be applied.
•    Determine how tables relate to each other and how fields interact within the tables for a relational model. 
•    Participate in decisions around data warehouse architecture and more specifically data models and database design.
•    Code complex programs, database scripts, and ETL packages that meet data flow requirements.
•    Generate data for testing purposes.  Auto-generate massive amounts of data with rules for performance and data quality testing.
•    Be able to provide administrative support, on call and related duties during off hours and weekends if required . 
•    Assist with process engineering (definition, training and improvement) for all software development lifecycle processes.
•    Work with software developers, business intelligence analysts and report analysts to insure compliance with database practices.
•    Perform other related duties as required. 



  • 3-5 years experience working with Oracle and SQL databases ( administration and deployment) 
  • EPIC Clarity Certification Preferred 
  • EPIC Caboodle Certification Preferred 
  • 3-5 Experience building and maintaining a database 
  • 3-5 Experience a development lifecycle methodology.
  • 2-3 years experience working with EPIC suit of databases (Clarity, Caboodle) 
  • 2-3 years experience working with Oracle and SQL databases



  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent work experience.
  • 3-5 years experience working with Oracle and SQL databases ( administration and deployment) 
  • EPIC Clarity Certification Preferred 
  • EPIC Caboodle Certification Preferred
