IMPLEMENTATION TECHNICIAN - CUSTOMER & DATA CENTER DEPLOYMENT - 6897

The Implementation Technician works on multiple projects concurrently and is responsible for the installation, implementation, and upgrades of communication devices. In addition, the Implementation Technician is responsible for performing site surveys, coordinating with internal and external resources, and troubleshooting. He/she is responsible for the wiring and hardware needs of projects and site enhancements. The Implementation Technician provides outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  •  Provide Technical Client hosting services to  Montefiore Affiliate Hospitals, (Car is required) as well as internal project-related services to Montefiore Medical Center.
  • This involves hardware (HW) deployment of all cabinets, server installations and decommissions for the Yonkers, NY, Orangeburg, NY  and Moses (Bronx) data centers.
  • HW rack and stack, cabling, patch panels, rPDU power connection, troubleshooting and incident remediation.
  • Data center asset tracking and inventory validation, capacity planning and installation designs based on work orders and project requirements.
  • Provide input to the cabinet capacity report (CCR) and excellent communication coupled with service efficiency for continuous customer satisfaction.
  • Required to obtain knowledge of projects and utilize an understanding of the priority, deadlines, client needs, and technical components of the project to deliver high-quality service for Montefiore IT’s clients.
  • As the point-person in the field, utilize analytical skills to confirm the fulfillment of the engineering and business requirements. Proactively elevate issues as needed. Apply industry standards and Montefiore IT best practices.
  • Participate in multiple large-scale concurrent projects. Projects include enhancements, migrations, additions, upgrades to existing devices, and reconfiguring existing devices.
    • Confirm the new equipment fulfills the engineering and business requirements.
    • Install communication devices such as PC’s, printers, wireless devices, switches, and routers at customer sites. Verify installed equipment is functioning properly.
    • May install applications or coordinate with other departments for application installation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments for testing (NCC, internet group, desktop group, and engineering) and with vendors as required. Coordinate with other teams and users involved with the implementation and ensure downtime is scheduled with the department.
  • Fulfills requirements designed by the infrastructure design team.
    • Responsible for the physical racking and stacking of the equipment in the on-site data closet.
    • Assist with setting up the configuration for network and server installations.
    • Verify the connectivity and coordinate with other departments to ensure connectivity.
    • Prior to the turnover, addresses all technical issues.
      • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and logical issues to determine the cause of a problem.
      • Confirm the functionality of the equipment and use standard methodologies and physical tools to identify and resolve the hardware related issue.
    • If the project requires server upgrades, additional servers, or decommissioning old servers, work in the Data Center to install servers and run cables as required. Install data cabinets and components of cabinets including KVM’s, servers, cables, power devices, and connectivity components (switches).
    • Responsible for site surveys.
      • Perform an initial site survey by meeting with the client and gathering the necessary information regarding the layout of the site. Identify the number of network devices and port capacity.
      • Documentation of site survey and completion of elevation drawings using standard naming schemes and adhering to set standards.
      • Turnover site survey and walk through with NCC.
    • Equipment tracking, asset management, and inventory control.
      • Update or enter new device ID’s into CA Service Desk
      • Update work orders and tickets for projects.
    • Handle all aspects of the turnover process including meeting with NCC staff and turning over all documentation associated with the project ensuring an effective transition from project to operational support.
    • Perform other related duties as required.
    • Prior to the turnover, addresses all technical issues.

EDUCATION:

Degree preferred OR Relevant IT Experience
