NCC SPECIALIST - *SHIFT - 5113

YONKERS, NY, US


 

The Network Control Center Specialist ensures the performance of the networks through the monitoring of network traffic, performance, and configuration. The Specialist is responsible for identifying network problems, isolating root causes, and initiating corrective action. The Network Control Center Specialist provides outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care.

 

* SHIFT:  Monday 4:30 pm  to 1230 am Saturday

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Monitor network traffic, performance, and configuration to optimize the operation of the network.
  • Identify network problems, isolate root causes, and initiate corrective action.
  • Review all data communications designs for fit within the current communications network and perform quality assurance reviews on the configuration.
    • Review network designs and hardware appropriate for the project.
    • Store completed designs in a central file location, ensuring they are available and accessible for use.
  • Build and burn in communications equipment in accordance with the approved Data Engineering designs.
    • Receive equipment from the project team for a build, testing the equipment and re-packaging it. Log equipment into Asset Management system.
    • Work with the project team to integrate and test the equipment that was built, and burned onto the data communications network.
  • Integrate new equipment (switches, routers, controllers, access points, UPS’s etc.) into the Enterprise Management System, for remote management and monitoring.
  • Participate in the turnover function by reviewing the design plans to ensure they match the final implementation and confirm that all equipment is entered into the Remedy system.
  • Provide timely, effective, and professional customer support on a 24x7 rotating basis. Work with help desk and support personnel to identify problems and resolve them remotely when possible or physically when required.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 2+ years of experience in the troubleshooting and repair of Ethernet and IP networks

• Strong skills maintaining wireless network, familiar with Cisco Prime, Access Points 1240, 3500, Aruba Airwave, Clearpass, AP225 and 325

• Knowledge of optical transport preferably Ciena 6500 platform

• Knowledge of the technologies:

            ◦ IP Routing

            ◦ OSPF

            ◦ BGP

            ◦ Spanning Tree

            ◦ DWDM

            ◦ VOIP

 

• Strong skills maintaining wireless network, familiar with Cisco Prime, WLC 550, WISM, Aruba Airwave and Clearpass

• Strong knowledge using network management  tools to monitor and analyze with SolarWinds, Spectrum, UIM, NetMRI, Infoblox

• Experience setting up packet  trace  and trace analysis using Omnipeek and Wireshark with strong analytic problem-solving skills

• Thoroughly document changes and incidents in Service Manager, trouble ticketing system

 

Hardware: Ciena 6500, Cisco Nexus, 6500, 4500, 3750, 5500, 3110, Avaya/Nortel 5650, 5220, Passport, AP 3500, 1240, 235, 325. Cisco controller 4400 and 5500.

Network Management Tools: CA Service Assurance, Spectrum, UIM, SolarWinds, NetMRI, Prime, JDM, Aruba Airwave, Clearpass

 

Other Qualifications:

• Strong verbal and written communication skills

• Excellent customer service focus

• Work well as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision

• Must be able to travel using own car to local office sites

• Required off-hours work for system changes and problem support

 

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business or related

Certifications: CCNA, preferred CCNP
