Our IT Operations group is seeking a Senior Network Manager.

The Senior Network Manager is responsible for managing multiple teams of Information Technology professionals. The Network Manager assigns both project-based work and production work through Managers, team leads or directly to team members, and oversees personnel management and project management. The person in this role has strong technical knowledge and is skilled in applying procedures, policies, and methodologies. The Senior Network Manager stays abreast of the industry standards for this field of specialization, provides leadership, and develops direct reports. The Senior Network Manager provides outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care, medical research and education.

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage teams of Information Technology professionals.
  • Creating and implementing support standards, processes and models is key.
  • Plan the work, delegate effectively and follow up with staff, providing support and guidance.
  • Evaluate the team and its members’ level of performance, to provide performance management and establish the delivery of top tier services and solutions to the client.
  • Mentor and identify training needs for team members, ensuring professional development and superior technical expertise.
  • Responsible for resource allocation, managing assignments, and overseeing the work performed by the team.
  • Work closely with and partner with internal groups the team supports.
  • Responsible for staffing decisions and promotion of team members.
  • Oversee, prioritize and manage projects ranging in size, complexity, and scope.
  • Create schedules, assignments, priorities and direction to the team members and vendor personnel for day to day work as well as key projects..
  • Develop work and cost estimates, program priorities, resource requirements, project scope, and objectives.
  • Must be highly organized for both themselves and organize and prioritize what the team is working on.
  • Tailor the project or program planning to meet the needs of the client and the interests of the company.
  • Lead the creation and delivery of solutions as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Provide expert guidance to the team on new solutions and designs
  • Provide management with insight and recommendations on suggested solutions.
  • Review proposed solutions to ensure the delivery of a quality product or service to the client.
  • Equip the team with a strategy for development and deployment of new solutions, as well as the maintenance and upgrades of existing ones including sunset plans for older technology and what will replace it..
  • Serve as a liaison to the business units and end-users. Work with client managers to supply proposals and solutions that meet the client’s specific needs.
  • Provide documentation and communication to peers, subordinates, and senior management for status, coordination, objectives, and performance.
  • Responsible for system documentation and coordinating the dissemination of it to stakeholders. This includes updating documentation and ensuring it is current.
  • Manage vendor relationships, work, insurance contracts, and inventories.
  • Mitigate escalations of client incidents and issues. Assess and troubleshoot, consult with vendors, and coordinate with other teams for problem resolution. This includes joining critical incident bridges and helping dive the team to resolution and assisting with troubleshooting when needed.
  • Remains aware of and evaluates the need for new technologies and new skillsets for the team.


Required experience includes:

  • IT department team management
  • Project management
  • Strong technical and industry experience
  • Strong working knowledge of layer 1, 2 and 3 network technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of WAN communication technologies
  • Strong working knowledge of Wireless communication technologies
  • Technical documentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Process creation and continuous improvement
  • Standards creation and socialization of these standards
  • Vendor management experience




  • Prefer Change Management and CAB (Change Advisory Board) experience.
  • Experience in a Healthcare, Higher Education and/or Clinical Research a plus
  • BS/MS in Computer Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Cisco CCIE preferred.
  • Juniper JNCIP-ENT or Juniper JNCIP-DC
  • Load balancing experience is a plus.
