Our Epic team is comprised of over 150 IT professionals focused on streamlining the way we share patient information across clinical providers and business systems users, with the goal of making each patient’s experience seamless and patient-centered. The team includes Application & Clinical Analysts, Business Intelligence Analysts, Access & Revenue Cycle Analysts, Credentialed Trainers, Instructional Designers, Software Engineers, and their management. This elite organization takes pride in having completed our initial Epic implementation fully half a year ahead of schedule.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The Epic Sr. Application Analyst utilizes his/her extensive knowledge of the client’s clinical or business requirements, application capabilities, and his/her technical skills to implement and support applications. The Sr. Application Analyst is responsible for the implementation of new applications, upgrades, and modifications to existing systems and assisting in the coordination of these efforts. The Sr. Application Analyst is also responsible for the application configuration, go-live support, and on-going client support. He/she works on multiple projects concurrently; provide outstanding client service and contributes to the organization’s mission of utilizing information technology to improve patient care; install new applications, new components, and upgrade the Epic application, configure application settings and provide go-live and rollout support.

The Sr. Application Analyst supports users on new applications, modules, and functionality, provides application troubleshooting support for the application(s), resolves the issue, forward it to the correct group for remediation, or elevate it to the vendor if required.  The analyst assists in determining how a new system, upgrade, or new component can best meet the needs of the users. He/she will analyze business/clinical needs and requirements, evaluate the operational workflow that is applied to the system, create system specifications from user requirements, create test plans and test new systems, version upgrades, and any system modification. He/she will document all the outcomes of testing. The Sr. Application Analyst will design database queries and create reports utilizing a report-writing tool, monitor application issues and evaluate issues as they arise.  The ideal candidate will write and maintain accurate and current documentation regarding application(s) supported by the team and participate in the maintenance of training materials and disseminate materials to users. He/she provides timely, effective, and professional customer support on a 24x7 rotating basis, work with the help desk and support personnel on escalated issues to identify problems and resolve them as well as triage network, hardware, or workstation issues as required. The Sr. Application Analyst analyzes necessary application modifications and works with the appropriate Epic. Montefiore IT associate or the vendor to coordinate the modification.

 JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Strong business analysis skills
  • Application implementation, troubleshooting, testing, and support experience.
  • Ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflict, maintain issues list, and capable of managing a project plan.
  • Strong desktop skills including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
  • Software development lifecycle or other technical skills beneficial
  • Experience dealing with end users
  • Experience dealing with vendors is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and rapport-building skills
  • The Application Analyst must attend Epic training and meet the requirements for Epic Inpatient Orders Certification (CPOE).
  • Presentation skills

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • EpicCare Inpatient Procedure Orders certification is preferred; if a candidate holds an EpicCare Clinical Documentation or EpicCare Ambulatory certification, he/she can attend one class to obtain the EpicCare Inpatient Procedure Orders certification.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

 

Analyzes complex business or clinical problems and specifies the functionality of solutions. Prepares detailed requirements specifications and provides technical expertise in the identification, evaluation and development of systems and procedures that meet use requirements. Performs work activities within each phase of the project life cycle.
