ADMINISTRATIVE NURSING MANAGER

Montefiore Medical Center's Division of Clinical Pathology is responsible for the laboratory testing of blood, urine, and body fluids for disease diagnosis and health maintenance. Utilizing the latest advances in computer technology, the Division maintains millions of dollars of state-of-the-art automated equipment at its laboratory sites and services hospitals, nursing homes, the Montefiore Medical Group, faculty practices, and voluntary physicians' offices at more than 40 sites. 
The Administrative Nurse Manager is the clinical lead and manager for nursing operations within the Apheresis Clinic and Cellular Therapy Collections Program. The primary responsibilities include; but are not limited to: ensuring and maintaining a high standard of care and exceptional clinical service, consistent positive patient experience, providing direction and managerial oversight for nursing staff within the unit, assessment of clinical competencies for nursing staff, and compliance with regulatory standards, policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities:
•    Supervise nursing operations and staff in the Apheresis Clinic and Cellular Therapy Collections Program
•    Oversee policy implementation and development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
•    Ensure compliance with regulatory bodies, prepare for audits and accreditation processes
•    Provide clinical guidance, training, and competency evaluations to nursing staff 
•    Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care
•    Monitor and evaluate patient care quality; implement improvements as necessary
•    Manage resources effectively, including staffing, budgets, equipment, and supplies
•    Uphold ethical standards and ensure compliance with institutional policies
•    Support and participate in clinical research and trials

Qualifications:
•    Bachelor's Degree (BSN) required; Masters Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
•    A minimum of 5 years working experience required
•    Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York required
•    Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association or Red Cross required
•    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification preferred
•    Qualification in Apheresis issued by the American Society for Apheresis preferred or to be obtained within one year of employment
•    Advanced knowledge of apheresis procedures, including red cell exchange, plasma exchange, photopheresis, and mononuclear cell collection
•    Understanding of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards (FDA, AABB, CAP, FACT, DOH, TJC, and commercial agencies)
•    Proficiency in electronic medical record systems and standard office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
•    Equipment Operation: Apheresis machines (e.g., Spectra Optia, Cellex), Blood Warmer, Medical devices for IV placement and phlebotomy, Electronic Medical Records systems
•    Competence in IV placement and phlebotomy
•    Leadership and management skills, including staff supervision, training, and development required

 

This position is located in the Blood Bank Nurses lab at the Moses campus. The hours are 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday through Friday
