INFECTION CONTROL NURSE

The Montefiore Infection Control Nurse maintains standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursing's Social Policy Statement. The Infection Control Nurse actualizes the vision, mission, values, balanced scorecard performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.

 

The Infection Control Nurse is an investigator, instructor and consultant with five major infection control
functions:
1. Surveillance
2. Data analysis and interpretation, summary reporting
3. Development of preventive and control measures
4. Consultation/education, and
5. Liaison with outside agencies

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
A. Professional Registered Nurse license and current registration to practice in New York State.

B. Baccalaureate degree in nursing or related field and a minimum of 2 consecutive years of recent acute
care nursing experience required.
C. Infection Control, hospital epidemiology or related experience required.

D. Masters degree and Infection control certification preferred at time of employment. Certification in area of specialty to be obtained in a reasonable period of time and maintained during employment.
E. Documented commitment to continuing professional development
