POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Montefiore Licensed Practice Nurse contributes standards of the practice for nursing as defined by the American Nurses Association Code of Ethics, Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice and Nursings Social Policy Statement.
The Licensed Practical Nurse actualizes the vision, mission, values, balance score card performance measures for Montefiore Medical Center.


The LPN participates in performance improvements/research activities; maintains pratactice standards and clinical expertise; and demonstrates leadership skills. The LPN demonstrates core and unit specific competencies based on the patient population served. The LPN contributes to the actualization of the vision, mission, values, and philosophy and balanced score card performance measures for the Medical Center. He/she is committed to maintaining the standards of the practice of nursing and is responsible for the delivery of care to the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or elderly patient with their scope of practice. 

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS, AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Highschool Diploma/GED 
2 Years of related experience 
New York State License for Practical Nurse and current registration to practice as an LPN in New York State
Basic Life Support
Effective English communication skills, written, oral and interpersonal
Computer skills
Phlebotomy skills
Minimum one year of care of patients living with HIV/AIDS and gender non-conforming lifestyle.
Additional education required by specialty areas/patient care locations
Use of patient care equipment as authorized by scope of practice
Use of electronic clinical information systems
Fluent in Spanish preferred
