Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes.

 

 

The Special Procedure Technologist, Lead, Cardiovascular is an essential member of the invasive cardiology lab team with a high degree of responsibility. The Cardiovascular Specialist must be able to work well in an interdisciplinary team and in a fast paced environment. Must be able to employ critical thinking skills and be patient safety focused. Assists with diagnostic, interventional and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to: peripheral and coronary angioplasty/stent, atherectomy, laser, coronary ultrasound, temporary cardiac assist devices, mitral clip, TAVR, ablations, device implantation, lead and device extraction/explant. Mentors, trains, and provides guidance to technical staff. Assists in scheduling and resolving coverage issues. The Cardiovascular Specialist is a resource for staff and physicians on sterile technique and the use/maintenance of supplies and equipment used in routine and complex cases. 

 

The Cardiovascular Specialist will be assigned at the Einstein or Moses campus based on patient care need

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelors degree in science/math/technology field required
  • 2 years of experience scrubbing in for invasive cardiac and/or vascular (CV) procedures or 1 year experience scrubbing in on invasive CV procedures and RCIS or RCES certification required
  • BLS and ACLS required
  • Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCIS or RCES), or RT (R, CI) or other deemed acceptable certification or degree (Foreign Trained Medical Doctorate with deemed appropriate experience will be considered)
  • Knowledge of Cardiac Catheterization and Peripheral Vascular; FFR, Laser, IVUS, Hemodynamic Monitoring System, Impella, PHP, Point of Care (AVOx, ACT, ABG), Fluoroscopy System, atherectomy devices, IABP, various vascular closure devices required
  • Knowledge of Arrhythmias: 3D mapping systems, Hemodynamic Monitoring System (PRUKA), laser, device programmers, stimulators and various ablation systems (cooling, RF) required
