Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes.

 

 

The practice of a physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician. 

 

Responsibilities include but not limited to

Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; 

Writing progress notes, ordering appropriate laboratory and imaging studies, checking the results of any laboratory and imaging studies.

Documenting results in progress notes in the medical record, writing procedure notes and monthly care plans

Ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions;

PA will perform in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to the hospital emergency department, hospital inpatient units, and endoscopy suite. 

PAs, will request validation to perform department specific skills such as scheduling patients for endoscopic procedures.

Writing orders to prepare patients for endoscopic procedures, pre and post procedure evaluation and management, making appropriate referrals and obtaining pre-operative clearance from appropriate specialists when necessary.

Obtain written informed consent for procedures

Requirements

 

Bachelor's degree from an accredited Physician Assistant Program required

Six months experience required

Registered as a Physician Assistant in NY

Verified by NCCPA

BLS required
