PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT PER DIEM

The practice of a physician assistant shall include medical services within the education, training and experience of the physician assistant that are delegated by the supervising physician. 

Medical services rendered by physician assistants may include, but are not limited to, obtaining patient histories and performing physical examinations; ordering and/or performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; formulating a diagnosis; developing and implementing a treatment plan; monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions; assisting at surgery; offering counseling and education to meet patient needs; making appropriate referrals.  Physician Assistants, in an emergency, shall be authorized to treat any medical disease and/or perform any medical and surgical procedures at the hospital for affiliates.  An emergency, for  these purposed, is defined as a situation in which any delay in administering treatment would result in serious harm to the patient or an immediate threat to life of the patient and that a qualified practitioner is not immediately available.

The activities listed above may be performed in any setting authorized by the supervising physician, including but not limited to, clinics, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers, patient homes, nursing homes and other institution settings.

In addition to the core skills listed here, PAs, will request validation to perform department specific skills
Level 2 and Level 3 PAs must meet the minimum required experience, and fulfill the competencies and training listed on the Career Ladders.

 

Education preferred - Master Degree.

Education required - Bachelor's Degree.

Training required - Physician Assistant program

a.  Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
b.  Registered as a Physician Assistant in New York State.
c.  NCCPA certified.
d. NIHSS certified
