PSYCHOLOGIST, DIRECTOR- FACULTY ELIGIBLE

Psychologist will work with patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities and comorbid emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties, ages 7 through 21, on Montefiore’s RFK CERC’s Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU).

 

· Primary responsibilities will focus on diagnostic and intervention needs including psychoeducational assessment and psychotherapy.

· Work as part of a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, social workers, speech/language pathologists, and developmental behavioral pediatricians

· Supervision of psychology externs

· Teaching and research opportunities are available

· Applicants must be licensed in NYS

· English/Spanish bilingual preferred, but others will be considered

 

Site Description:

This position offers individuals the opportunity to work with children, adolescents, and young adults, with learning, language, attention, social, emotional, and behavioral difficulties in the context of a multidisciplinary team. The Children's Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (CERC) is the clinical arm of The Rose F. Kennedy Center at Montefiore Medical Center. It provides a broad spectrum of clinical services for infants, children, adolescents, and adults with neurodevelopmental disabilities. One of the largest centers of its kind in the United States, CERC is a voluntary, nonsectarian agency whose services are essential components of the care available in New York City and New York State to all individuals with developmental disabilities. CERC's professional staff provides over 55,000 diagnostic, therapeutic and related visits to about 7,500 individuals and their families annually, while training close to 1,000 professionals each year. In addition to CERC, the Rose F. Kennedy Center houses The Rose F. Kennedy University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD), The Leadership in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) fellowship, and The Rose F. Kennedy Center Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Center (IDDRC). Under the auspices of these four components, The Kennedy Center offers a range of clinical services, training programs and research studies. Psychologist will work with patients with neurodevelopmental disabilities and comorbid emotional, behavioral, and social difficulties, ages 7 through 21, on Montefiore’s RFK CERC’s Child and Adolescent Unit (CAU).

 

Experience/ Education/ Training 

Experience in the management of clinical programs and the provision of Psychoeducational Services.  Related work experience 3 years.

Terminal Degree in Clinical Field which shall include Psychology. Appropriate licensure. Eligible for faculty appointment at Assistant level or higher. Two years’ experience in the training and supervision of psychology graduate students .

PHD required.

 

Should have

• Demonstrated effectiveness in clinical service provision in a multi-purpose center for persons with disabilities which includes clinical services., training, and research activities

• Demonstrated leadership in developmental disabilities, consumer/family empowerment, and community building that supports full inclusion of individuals with disabilities

• Demonstrated knowledge of best practices related to disability issues for all age groups, state service delivery systems for individuals with disabilities, and familiarity with the UCEDD network’s function and mission
