Montefiore Medical Center is proud to announce the upcoming launch of a new acute inpatient psychiatric facility dedicated to providing high-quality, short-term psychiatric care for children and adolescents. This specialized unit will enhance access to timely, developmentally appropriate mental health services, offering a safe, structured, and compassionate environment to support patients in crisis and help stabilize their condition.

 

As part of our efforts to build a strong, multidisciplinary team, we are currently seeking a Security Officer.  The Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Medical Center’s patients, visitors, and associates by carrying out assigned security duties. Prevents potential threats or destructive acts against Medical Center property. Performs additional responsibilities as required to maintain a secure environment.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Guards and secures designated entrances/exits to ensure those only patients, associates, and authorized visitors enter the facility 
  • Responds to emergency/unusual situations in the facility, including fires, disturbances, disruptive patients or visitors, and other occurrences when assistance is requested or needed by the staff according to Montefiore procedures & policies 
  • Checks authorizations to remove medical center property from the facility. Safeguards facility, patient, and associate property according to Montefiore procedures & policies 
  • Exercise constant vigilance in reference to patients, staff, and visitors within the facility 
  • Receives complaints and suggestions from staff and communicates these responses to supervisor 
  • Conducts initial investigation of incidents and prepares and submits all required reports according to Montefiore procedure and policies
  • Performs ancillary support functions including but not limited to morgue operation, vehicular traffic control, off-hours receipt of packages, information desk duties, and transporting people or packages between Montefiore facilities. Performs all related duties as assigned by a security supervisor 

 

Requirements: 

  • GED or High School diploma
  • Completion of an NYS-approved security guard training program and a current NYS security guard license required 
  • HEARTSAVER-CERTIFIED FIRST AID, CPR, AND AED CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Valid NYS class 4 driver's license preferred
  • At least 3 years of security or military experience preferred
