Position Overview: Under the direction of the Radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs advanced imaging studies with a high degree of technical proficiency, requiring minimal supervision. This role involves utilizing independent judgment and creative problem-solving to apply MRI technology for diagnostic purposes. The technologist is responsible for specific areas and procedures as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Image Acquisition and Processing: Capture and label MRI images, ensuring proper processing and displaying of final images for radiologist interpretation.

  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate records of imaging studies, including tracking MRI sequences, contrast usage, and patient interactions.

  • Radiation Safety Compliance: Adhere to all regulations concerning patient and staff safety in relation to MRI procedures.

  • Patient Preparation and Positioning: Conduct patient assessments, ensuring proper positioning and immobilization techniques, while providing comprehensive counseling throughout the procedure.

  • Equipment Preparation: Prepare the MRI suite, including ensuring all necessary supplies, contrast agents, and sterile instruments are available and properly maintained.

  • Assisting the Radiologist: Collaborate with the radiologist during procedures, managing the MRI equipment and monitoring patients throughout the imaging process.

Education & Training Qualifications:

  • HS Diploma Required 

  • Successful completion of a formal radiologic technology program with a focus on MRI, meeting ARRT certification requirements.

  • Certification in MRI technology by the ARRT.

  • BLS certification.

  • Valid RT license issued by the State of New York.
