Overview: 

Under the direction of the Radiologist, performs necessary sophisticated imaging studies at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for imaging diagnosis.  Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.  

 

Job Responsbilites: 

  • Photographicing and processing of images: This task included photographing and labeling digital images, processing and displaying final images on viewing machines for radiologist interpretation 
  • Maintain all necessary records of films, fluoro time, and injections 
  • Observe all rules and regulations regarding radiation safety for patients and staff 
  • Performs digital angiographic imaging and other exams of select nature in interventional room; positions patients and provides immobilization preparation and patient counseling as required 
  • Prepares sterile fields, imaging agents, trays and instruments; ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays and disposables to be used in assigned area. Maintains appropriate and adequate supplies during the procedures. 
  • Assists radiologist during procedures; maneuvering mechanical equipment around the patient. Operates and understands all features and performance capabilities of the digital imaging system. Sets up and manages drips and lines; monitoring throughout the case 

 

Education & Training Qualifications: 

  •  Satisfactory completion of a formal radiologic technology training in and meets the requirements for certification by the ARRT.
  • Certification in interventional radiology by the ARRT
  •  BLS certification
  •  Valid RT licensed by the State of New York.
