DIRECTOR IT FINANCE

The IT Finance Leader is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and financial planning for the Montefiore Einstein Technology (IT) department. This position serves as a liaison between the IT and Finance departments, facilitating effective budgeting, forecasting, cost management, and financial reporting. The IT Finance Leader plays a key role in aligning IT projects and investments with overall business objectives and financial goals.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Budgeting & Financial Planning:
• Develop and manage the IT department budget annually with IT leadership and stakeholders.
• Lead annual and quarterly budgeting, collaborating with stakeholders for realistic forecasts.
• Provide financial analysis for IT investments, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
2. Cost Management:
• Monitor IT expenses, staying within budget and finding cost-saving opportunities.
• Develop cost-effective strategies for IT projects and investments.
• Review vendor contracts and collaborate with Procurement for favorable terms on software, hardware, and services.
3. Financial Reporting & Analysis:
• Prepare financial reports for the IT department, focusing on variances and trends. Report on key departmental metrics, including Opex and Capex budget comparisons.
• Present financial insights to senior management to aid in resource allocation and prioritization.
• Align IT financial planning with corporate planning processes and systems.
4. Project Financial Oversight:
• Work with project managers to monitor IT project budgets.
• Offer financial oversight for CapEx and OpEx in IT projects.
• Set up financial controls and reporting for major IT investments.
5. Compliance & Risk Management:
• Ensure adherence to financial policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements in all IT financial processes.
• Support audits and address internal and external inquiries related to IT finance and budgeting.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration:
• Collaborate with IT, procurement, legal, and senior leadership to align on financial goals.
• Liaise between finance, IT operations, and procurement for effective financial decisions in IT projects and investments.
7. Continuous Improvement:
• Identify and execute process enhancements aimed at improving financial efficiency, accuracy, and reporting within the IT department.
• Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in both IT and finance to foster innovation in financial operations.
Qualifications:
• Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Technology, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred). Equivalent experience will be considered in place of a degree.
• Experience:
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years focused on IT finance or technology-related financial analysis in a complex enterprise organization.
o Strong understanding of IT financial operations, budgeting, and cost management.
o Experience with financial reporting tools, ERP systems, and budgeting software.
o Experience collaborating with IT and Finance leadership.
o Health care experience preferred.
• Skills:
o Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
o Knowledge of IT-related financial management, including software, hardware, cloud services, and IT infrastructure.
o Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, software development lifecycles, and technology stack economics.
o Experience in financial planning, forecasting, and analysis in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
o Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights to non-financial stakeholders.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
o Comfortable identifying and implementing new processes, technologies, and strategies to drive continuous improvement in financial operations.
