ANIMAL SURGERY SPECIALIST SURGERY

BRONX, NY, US


The Departments of Surgery and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery seek an experienced Animal Surgery Specialist to perform surgery on animals for teaching and research purposes.  The successful candidate will work with researchers on surgical projects and training of medical students, surgical residents, surgical fellows, physician assistants and surgeons.  In addition, this role will monitor vital signs, prepare animals for surgery and administer anesthesia as well as support surgical procedures with equipment and instruments.

 

 Please note:

  • Associate is often required to be available for extended hours because of ongoing research clinical, or presentation deadlines.

 

 Education/Skills required:

  • Associate’s Degree required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Three (3) years’ work experience required
  • Veterinary Technician Certificate required
  • Knowledge of the following: Staff monitor, Bovie (electrical knife), Defibrillator, Respirators, ECG monitor, Infusion Pumps, Blood Gas Analyzer, Surgical Instruments, Laparoscopic towers.
