Manages the daily activities of the department including supervising staff, evaluating performance, scheduling staff, and enforcing disciplinary measures. Maintains qualified personnel and ensures all licensing is current.

Demonstrates clinical competence in respiratory care and keeps up with advances in technology or practice in the field and new therapeutic modalities. Manages the Nitric Oxide Program Identifies staff deficiencies and conducts appropriate in-services as required.   Monitors case loads and seeks to ensure quality staff performance. Acts as an educational resource and provides support as requested. Determines quality control data and maintenance are up to date and meet guidelines set forth by NYSDOH and other credentialing agencies.Tests all equipment and makes appropriate administrative decisions regarding improperly functioning equipment, including their removal from use. Collaboratively coordinates the Performance Improvement program and ensures regulatory guidelines are met. Provides on call coverage as needed on weekends and holidays.


Education required - Bachelor's Degree

Length of work experience- 5yrs

Certificate of completion from a Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) accredited respiratory therapist program. 
Current respiratory therapist license issued by New York State Education Department.  
Current registration as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) issued by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
Current Basic Life Support certification.
Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
