ASSOCIATE VP DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION

BRONX, NY, US


This position is accountable for leading the Design and Construction department across Bronx and Westchester sites. Exemplifies executive leadership and leads capital planning and large-scale construction projects.

 

Highlights

  • Oversee the evaluation and implementation of all new property construction and renovations to exiting property, including but not limited to procurement of architecture/construction, conditions assessments, feasibility studies, estimating and budgeting, schematic design, regulatory submissions, bidding, construction, and project close-out
  • Locations include: Bronx hospitals, outpatient facilities, real estate properties, New Rochelle, Schaffer Extended Care Center, Mount Vernon, AECOM, and other hospitals within system; partners with other system hospitals and entities
  • Develops short and long-range goals to support broad functional objectives
  • Establishes and measures performance against goals and objectives to ensure positive patient experience in new and renovated facilities
  • Directs the establishment of project schedules, budgets, staffing, organization and management of construction projects
  • Initiates and develops strategic plans, policies, and procedures; ensures alignment of standards across system
  • Analyze operations to evaluate performance of the department and staff in meeting objectives to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change
  • Leads committees and presents to internal and external stakeholders
  • Oversee the coordination and approval of all purchase orders related to design and construction projects
  • Examines cost benefit feasibility studies to determine the viability of new renovations and construction projects
  • Ensures highest quality and integrity of contractors, architects, sub-contractors, and suppliers
  • Ensures department meets code compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for all projects

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field required, Masters preferred with 15+ yrs experience in facilities management, minimum of ten (10) years progressively responsible senior management experience in a related field required; preferably in a large, complex healthcare setting. Proven experience in design and construction, financial analysis and strategic planning. High level of interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills as well as problem-solving capabilities. Refined in interfacing with a myriad of departments to deliver relevant expertise to projects. Innovative in handling complex matters while well under pressure and adversity.

Aptitude to deliver on patient and client's expectations, aligned with standards. Detail orientated with strong organizational and leadership skills. Must be knowledgeable of NYC & NYS codes and regulations, as well as other regulatory standards. Professional Engineer or Architect license preferred.
