BUSINESS ASSOCIATE

SUMMARY OF POSITION:


As an integral part of the team and contact person for the Emergency Department, the Business Associate / Follow-up Clerk is responsible for establishing follow-up care within Montefiore's healthcare delivery system by accessing registration systems and/or communicating with other departments. They are also responsible for the business aspect of a patient's stay, as well as patient focused care within the Emergency Department. These activities include effective and professional communication with other departments, patients, staff, and other customers; chart maintenance and completion; performing unit reception duties; and other duties as assigned.

 

SCHEDULE: 8:30 AM – 5 PM, rotating workdays.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively with other members of the Care Center.
  • Knowledge of keyboarding and basic computer skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Successful completion of Business Associate training program and competency-based orientation.
  • Verbal and/or written knowledge of Spanish. Must be able to communicate effectively in Spanish as well as English.
