The Chaplain for Palliative Care is responsible for both direct ministry in an ecumenical and interfaith ministry to patients, their loved ones and staff. The Chaplain serves as a member of the Palliative Care Consultation service. The associate will have responsibility to ensure that spiritual and religious needs of patients and their loved ones are addressed, and will provide leadership and education relevant to religion, health and medical ethics and decision making within the facility and in the community.
Responsibilities include but not limited to
-Delivering and arranging a ministry of pastoral care, counseling, consultation, and worship. Providing support to patients, their loved ones, nursing staff, physicians, and other health care personnel from a broad spectrum of faith traditions.
-Acting as a liaison and resource between representatives of the religious communities and the medical institution.
-Initiating, implementing and/or contributing to clinically based research. Submitting for publication articles dealing with the practice of pastoral care and education, making presentations to audiences and groups within the medical institution and in the larger community.
-Keeping records of Pastoral activity
-Identifying and appropriately raising issues of medical ethics. Utilizing and remaining current on ethical issues.
-Taking an active part in the educational role of the Palliative Care Consultation Team, and teaching about Palliative Care in the hospital and community.
-Maintaining good standing and faith group endorsement through active participation in the life and work of his/her religious community.

Requirements
Master's degree in Theology
Previous Chaplaincy in Healthcare Experience Required
Must have completed 4 units of Clinical Pastoral Education under the standards of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc.
Must be certified (or in certification process) by the Association of Professional Chaplains, the National Association of Catholic Chaplain, or the National Association of Jewish Chaplains.
Must be endorsed for ministry by his/her faith group.
Knowledge of EPIC, Outlook and Microsoft preferred
