CLERK ACCOUNTING

BRONX, NY, US


The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for assisting patients with insurance and financial issues.  This will entail, evaluating new and current patient's insurance, collecting insurance cards, setting self-pay fees, collecting self-pay fees, address payment issues with self-pay patients as well as assist patients with transportation reimbursement issues. The Accounting Clerk will also be responsible for completing Medicaid applications with the patients as necessary.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate insurance coverage for all new admissions, set a self-pay fee for patient
  • Work the Medicaid Ineligible Report weekly. Follow up with patients to assist with reactivating their Medicaid.  Alert Business Office to the patient's change in issuance
  • Collect Self-Pay Patient Fees
  • Review the Patient Account Balance Summary Report weekly.  Meet with patients to arrange payment plans.  Refer non-compliant patients to the Business Office for further action
  • Review the Weekly Restricted Patient Report
  • Liaison between the Business Office and Clinical staff in regards to Utilization Threshold Override Applications
  • Complete a Medicaid application if patient meets the appropriate financial guidelines

 

Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years working experience, Healthcare administration required
  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • Must be able to type 40 words per minute
  • Must have working knowledge of Excel, Word and Outlook

 

This is a 100% grant funded position.
