The Clinical Assistant Student Nurse position provides an opportunity for nursing students enrolled in an accredited nursing baccalaureate or associate degree program to become familiar with the role of the registered professional nurse and to develop organizational, communication, and team-building skills under the supervision and guidance of a registered nurse preceptor.
The scope of practice of the Clinical Assistant is that of a Nursing Attendant and the associate performs responsibilities and job duties of the Nursing Attendant while learning and observing the role of the Registered Nurse.
The Clinical Assistant in the role of Nursing Attendant is a member of a team dedicated to provide the highest quality care and services to our patients by assisting in such functions as maintaining a safe, clean and functional environment; assisting with dietary aspects of care; facilitating communication, i.e., answering phones; transporting patients and assisting visitors. As an integral part of the team, the Clinical Assistant is responsible for activities, which promote patient focused care within the Patient Unit.
Candidates who successfully complete the program and their ADN or BSN nursing degree will be eligible for the following::
Participants who are hired by Montefiore Medical Center into a vacant contractual NYSNA RN position within two years of graduation from nursing school will receive $5,000 in tuition relief at their first anniversary, up to $6,000 at their second anniversary, and up to $7,000 at their third anniversary. Participants must be employed without any break in service to Montefiore Medical Center to qualify.
Requirements:
HS Diploma or GED
Enrolled in a accrediated NYS RN program
BSN students should have completed 3 years in nursing program
Associate degree and Accelerated RN students should have completed (2 )clinicals
GPA of 3.0 or higher
Basic Life Support (BLS) required
